BUILDING POLITICAL WILL

Alliance members are working collectively to elevate hunger on the national agenda by studying how voters think about hunger, sharing our findings with political leaders, and encouraging champions for hungry people among our elected officials.

aONE IN FOUR AMERICANS FEAR HUNGER ACCORDING TO NEW POLL
One in four American voters are worried that they or someone they know will go hungry.  More than one third said they have had to buy less food due to rising food prices.  High food prices tied with the war in Iraq on a list of issues that voters would like to hear more about solving from candidates for political office. Since 2002, the Alliance's Hunger Message Project has regularly conducted a bi-partisan survey of likely voters about issues of hunger and poverty.

aBUILDING POLITICAL WILL CRITICAL TO OVERCOMING HUNGER CRISIS

One of three nongovernmental representatives invited to speak at the plenary session of the U.N.'s High-Level Conference on World Food Security in Rome, Rev. David Beckmann, president of the Alliance to End Hunger, urged world leaders to increase funding for the International Alliance Against Hunger to help leverage greater changes in the politics of hunger.
